I’m sure you’ve seen it before in poker – one of your opponents seems to be involved in every pot, putting pressure on everyone and taking everyone’s chips. But they always seem to have the big hand when it counts. Let me let you in on a little secret – it’s not luck. Chances are, your opponent understands the valuable strategies of playing their opponents – not their cards. When you learn the same techniques for your sit and go tournaments strategy, you too can be the one taking everyone’s chips! Here are 3 secrets of poker’s elite to ensure sit and go poker success: * Run over the tight player Sit And Go Strategies – Run Over The Tight Player Proper sit and go strategy dictates that you should play tight in the early stages – however by the end game you should be prepared to play a lot looser. Some of your opponents won’t adjust correctly, and continue to play tight all the way through. This results in an opportunity for you. Identify these tight players, and apply the pressure to them. Steal their blinds, pick up the pots they show no interest in, and you’ll build your stack without needing to show down your hand. Beware when the tight player wakes up though – if their betting says they’ve got it, believe them! They’ll still make good hands, so let them win with their rare good hands and focus on taking the pots they give up on. Sit And Go Strategies – Punish The Loose Player Loose players can be tougher to combat than very tight players, however they too can be exploited by your poker prowess. As they are playing too many hands, here’s some quick tips on how to make them pay: * If they’re limping too much preflop – raise them more often when you have position. You can often take the pot on the flop when they miss, make them pay when you hit your hand, or they might just fold preflop. Sit And Go Strategies – Attack The Short Stacks Your opponents with short stacks in a sit and go tournament may as well sit there with a sign hanging around their neck saying “Please take my chips”! An opponent with a short stack of around 8-14 big blinds is usually hanging around, trying to survive until they get a hand strong enough to try and double up. If you recognise an opponent waiting to do exactly that – it’s time to attack! Steal their blinds as often as possible, with small preflop raises so you are risking as little as possible. You’ll find that most won’t be interested in defending their big blind – they’re just looking for a spot to move all-in. Your blind steals will therefore be much more profitable, as these opponents will fold very often. These extra blind steals could very well be the key to building a winning stack! So now you have 3 more ways to maximise your sit and go success – learn them, use them, and reap the rewards! This article is from www.sit-n-go-strategy.com.
