The WSOP is in full swing. Results are in for the first 19 events. Brothers Michael and Robert Mizrachi both took home cash in event #2, the Player’s Championship. Michael took first place, making them only the second set of brothers ever to hold WSOP bracelets. The others are Grant and Blair Hinkle. Robert took 5th place, and $341,429 in cash. Event #3 was a no-limit holdem tournament taken by Aadam Daya. This was his first bracelet.

The list of events goes on and on, but most of the big guys are staying out of them. There’s plenty of chatter from the floor, though. It seems the Texas Dolly, Doyle Brunson tweeted out of school. He said that it “Must be a bad time of the month for Annette whats her name..” He was referring to Annette Obrestad, the youngest ever winner of a WSOP bracelet. I think he knows her name. He later apologized to women everywhere.

Annette might have had it coming, though. She implied that she could beat Brunson, because, as she said “Online players process information so much faster and don’t let their egos get in the way of becoming a better player. No disrespect to Doyle, but I’d rather play him.” She might prefer to play him, but he did manage to win heads-up with her both in 2008 and in March of this year, so maybe she prefers to lose. In any case, Annette, Doyle says he’s waiting in the Bellagio “at Bobby’s Room” almost every day.

Annette hasn’t been doing too well overall. She’s entered a lot of events, but she’s only finished in the money once, and even then, she only reached 17th place. She may have over-extended herself for this event. Let’s hope she gets plenty of rest and clears her head thoroughly between now and the main event. It would be great to see the youngster take a high place in the main event.
