Online Gambling News Update

There’s been a lot happening lately in the online gambling industry, most notably with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), and there is some good news for online players from the United States.

As most online poker players and gambler know, the UIGEA regulations were due to take effect Monday December the 1st. These regulations were to be an attempt to stop American players from being able to use US financial institutions to fund online poker and/or casino sites.

This was a law that was attached to the Port Security Bill during the mid-night hours in 2006. The bill was signed into law by former President Bush on October of that year and has been fought by the Poker Players Alliance and it’s members since. One of the most outspoken opponents against the UIGEA has been Rep. Barney Frank.

Well there is some good news to report for those that are from the United States and still believe in our rights to play, and fund online games . The regulations will be delayed for at least another six months until June 1, 2010 with an option for an additional delay if the law hasn’t been sorted out by that time.

And on top of that, Rep Barney Frank will begin discussions on overturning the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act on Thursday, December 3rd. So folk, make sure and let your politicians know that we still believe that this is a free country and that we do not need the Government telling adult when and how they fund their online gaming .
