* By News and Promos . From wedoitallvegas.com Las Vegas promoters, who have worked with Cher, Bette Midler and Celine Dion, recently approached Barbra Streisand with a $100 million three-year contract deal, which she surprisingly rejected. The 67-year old entertainer was chosen as a possible replacement for Bette Midler, whose show ended on January 31st. “After Celine Dion left Vegas, no one has been able to replace her. Bette Milder failed, Cher is trying, only Barbra is guaranteed to succeed,” said a Vegas insider. “She’s an international star and the only performer that could make people flock to Vegas year after year.” After Dion’s show ended its run in 2008, the 62-year old Bette Midler was chosen as her replacement in “The Showgirl Must Go On” at Caesars Palace. This decision proved to be disastrous for everyone involved since ticket sales for this Vegas show were, at many times of the year, slow to say the least. After Streisand rejected the huge offer, other contenders waiting to fill the position are being considered. Among those performers currently in talks to start a Las Vegas residency include Neil Diamond. Streisand could have brought enormous star power to Vegas, considering that she is the #1 Best Selling Female Recording Artist in history. “Babs” is also one of the few artists to have won a GRAMMY, an Oscar, a Tony and an Emmy. Throughout her 47-year career, she has sold a staggering 140 million albums and is among The Beatles and Elvis Presley for the top ten selling artists. Related posts:

Oh please. Then Neil Diamond should close the place entirely down.
Please do not put him in there. It has OLD written all over it.
He is so corney, so glittery, so overdone.Lets hope they use some sense.
His fans have taken one too many trips to Binney’s and are more than bizarre. Please put someone in there worth the trip to Veges.
I am sure Neil would Turn it down, as Neil is a close friend with Barbra Streisand.
Oh, my darling readers, Neil is not old at all, maybe in numbers but he is the most hip, handsome, viral and gorgeous. I woud follow him wherever he goes. Las Vegas would be wonderful for Neil and for his vast fan base.
Neil has beautiful music, he writes it, he composes it, and he arranges it. He can sing like a bird. I do beleive that he would bring in the people to the show and he would do it with lots of class. I don’t think that Neil can turn down $100 million dollars. And, I don’t think he would turn it down because of Babs. Babs has stage fright, and some times she feels good and sometimes she doesn’t. That is why she turned 100 million dollars down. She is afraid.
I hope that Neil accepts the contract. It woud be wonderful. I would come and see the show many times.
You must know that Neil is a very well loved singer. He is a wonderful entertainer and he is a fine musician. He is also a lot of fun. He has a wonderful sense of humor. The show can be done very nicely and very intitmate and the sound of his baratone voice would be awesome.
I would hope Neil would turn this one down just like Barbara Streistand, why wouldn’t they? Tour other places so fans get a taste of whats to come in their home towns. I can’t see Neil there touring the WORLD like his fans need him
Some dont seem to get it…
Las Vegas wants to draw them in with high rollers…
from what I understand Celine just signed on…
They don’t obviously want to play with the small-time, cheesy acts….think big
PS…where do you people get your inside information these celebrities? You seem to know a lot about Neil Diamonds personal, close relationships, and all about Barbara too….give me a break. You have all been watching too much t.v.
From pictures I have seen of the main fanbase of ND, please, no please, dont ruin Las Vegas…
Galinda,
I’m with you but for exactly the opposite reasons.
Diamond has in recent years toned down his glittery image and in the recording studio has gone back to a simpler more acoustic sound. This has led to his first number one album ever – Home Before Dark and his last world tour becoming his most successful ever.
So Neil please stay out of Vegas. You’ve gone back to your more earthy qualities — Vegas would be a retrograde move.
