SitNGo – Slow Playing a Monster

December 23rd, 2009   |   By stu   |   No Comments »

Let my start right off by saying that I feel slow playing a good hand is wrong.   JUST PLAY YOUR HAND!

Slow playing a good pocket hand or flop had gotten me into much trouble in the early days of my play.  I’ll bet that you have had the same experience.

YOU LEARNED NOTHING

Since information about the players and the round you are playing is one of the most important things you need to be a winner,  what have you learned by checking or calling?  NOTHING!  If you were in position and everyone else in the hand checked,  you have let them all get a ‘free card’.  If you were out of position and the bet was a limp or small raise, your decision to just call, again, gave you no information and they all get to see another card!  You are giving the  players all the opportunities to hit that flush straight or full house while you could have taken the pot down early.

If you are new

If you are just learning the game, slow play is probably in your arsenal of weapons.  Get rid of it.  Take down the pots as you can.  The opportunities to take down the monster pot will come.

My Best Advice
